START HERE --> important information about the class
Welcome to BIO226!
Here are some tips for being successful in the class:
- Each week your previous week's homework (sound file notes, lab quizzes, etc...) must be submitted by 11:59 PM on Monday. You will then be able to access the new homework for the week.
- You must begin your homework early in the week so that you will have time to ask for help if you have questions. For most weeks, you will need to budget at least 8 hours of time. You will need to take careful notes while listening to that week's sound file(s). How well you do on your midterm and final exams will depend upon the quality of the sound file notes you take.
- Your sound file note-taking homework must be submitted either in person or in emergency cases in CANVAS. I will NOT accept homework any other way (Lake Land email will not be accepted). If you are unfamiliar with submitting assignments in CANVAS, please watch the following YouTube video about the process. It is quick and easy.

*****Please note that if you upload multiple pics directly from your phone using the CANVAS mobile app, it will not load properly. Either combine all of your pics into one document or upload the individual pics from your laptop. It's using the mobile app that causes the problem.
- NO late homework will be accepted.
- You are required to take 2 exams (midterm and final exam) and 3 practicals. All of these will be taken ON CAMPUS during our regularly scheduled lab meetings. You will have 2 hours to complete the exam or the practical.
- Lab quizzes will be complete when students have accumulated 40 points from taking a quiz several times within one week. The lab quizzes have multiple questions, so you will be asked different questions each time you take it, and they are either matching or fill-in-the-blank in format. Each time you take a quiz, you will earn a certain number of points toward the goal of 40 points. For example, let's say you earn 10 points out of a possible 10 points on your first quiz. That means you have to earn an ADDITIONAL 30 points by taking the quiz as many times as necessary to earn those remaining 30 points.
I want you to succeed in this class, so please take these tips to heart!
