Instructor: Leo Kitten, Office: West Building 001, Email: lkitten@lakeland.cc.il.us, Phone: 234-5316
The purpose of this course is to learn 3D Parametric Design, how to create, display and present solid models of parts and assemblies. This is a continuation of the 3D Solid Modeling course with more emphasis on parametrics, design, 3D scan and printing, and prototype building.
The textbooks for this course will be Autodesk Inventor Essentials Plus by Daniel T. Branch, Travis Jones and Alan Kalameja and Inventor Basics of Parametric Modeling by James Lofaso.
Grades will be determined as follows: CAD Portfolio-5% Lab Projects-30% Homework-10% Mid-Term Test-20% Final Test-20% Final Project-15% Total-100%
CAD Portfolio: You will be required to put together a portfolio that will cover most of the courses in the CAD degree curriculum. This is a requirement of Lake Land College's Outcomes Assessment program.
Lab Projects: Lab projects will consist of creating parts, assemblies, drawings, and prototypes.
Final Project - You must have a final project approved by the end of the 2nd week. You must create a full set of professional drawings and a prototype by the end of April. Work on this whenever time is available.
Homework: Homework sheets will be given out for each major subject area, answers will be found by reading your textbook and/or handouts.
Tests: There will be a mid-term test and a final exam to test your learning and understanding during this course.
Attendance: Attendance is important, come to class prepared to stay for the full lecture and lab time. If you miss class for any reason, you will have to make up missed work on your own, material will not be re-taught. If you miss class, arrive late or leave early; you will lose attendance points.
Cheating on tests or copying another person's project or "loaning" someone your project will not be tolerated and will result in a zero for that test or assignment. You may help your classmates, but do not do work for them.
Class Rules: 1. Accessing the internet during class time is prohibited except for class projects.
2. Cell phones are to be turned off or on vibrate in classroom.
3. Food, Drink and Tobacco use is prohibited in the classroom.
