COURSE OBJECTIVE

 

1. Each student will learn the rules of Volleyball and Basketball and be able to apply that knowledge in game situations.                        

 

1. Students will be able to properly demonstrate official signals and game procedures in both Basketball and Volleyball.

 

ATTENDANCE

 

Attendance is required.  After two absences your grade will be affected by your absences.  You can receive extra credit by coming to every class.  If you have a legitimate excuse you must contact me before the start of class by email or phone.

 

CLASS INFORMATION

 

The class is a 16 week semester class.  Each student will need to have a whistle.  Within the class we will have days that practice officiating sessions will take place.  It is my goal that each student will have enough game like experience at the end of this class that they are ready to officiate lower level games. 

 

Class Text is the NFHS Rule books for both Volleyball and Basketball.

 

Each student will be required to attend a Lake Land College Basketball contest.

 

At the end of the semester information will be distributed to explain the process of becoming a registered official with the IHSA.

Exams- each worth 100 points

On Court Skill testing 100 points for each sport

Game attendance Report- 100 points
