OBJECTIVE: The overall objective of this class is to provide the student with a solid foundation and understanding of key concepts within human anatomy and physiology. This objective will be met by a combination of lecture material and homework. A more complete listing of individual objectives will be provided to the student upon request.
GRADING: A student's final grade will be determined based upon their homework avg., puzzles avg., exam avg., and 3Xs HANDWRITTEN practice average. The following scale will be used for final grades:
90 - 100% A
80 - 89% B
70 - 79% C
60 - 69% D
59% or lower F
FIRST THREE TESTS:
These exams will consist of 50 questions (for a total of 100 pts). The test will consist of multiple-choice questions and short-answer questions. The student will not be allowed a “cheat sheet” of any kind.
The student will be given 90 minutes to complete the test. Tests will be available to the student starting on the first day of class, but MUST be completed by a specific day. Please see the modules for those dates.
If a student fails to complete a test within the window of time that the test is available, then they will receive a ZERO for the test. There are NO EXCEPTIONS.
Even though the tests are not proctored, students are expected to follow Lake Land College's Academic Integrity Code.
COMPREHENSIVE FINAL EXAM:
The final exam will consist of 100 questions (for a total of 100 pts). The exam will consist of multiple-choice questions and short-answer questions. The student will not be allowed a “cheat sheet” of any kind. It will be averaged with the previous three exams to determine a student’s overall exam average.
The student will be given 120 minutes to complete the final. The final exam will be available to the student starting on the first day of class, but MUST be completed by a specific day. Please see the modules for that date.
If a student fails to complete the final exam within the window of time that the test is available, then they will receive a ZERO for the final exam. There are NO EXCEPTIONS.

HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS: Homework will be assigned each week. Homework will consist of a series of words and short answer questions. Students will be required to download and listen to a sound file related while completing each homework assignment. Each student’s homework will be collected at the end of the week that it is assigned.
If a student misses the due date for the homework s/he will receive a zero for that homework set. There are NO EXCEPTIONS. The two lowest scores for each student will be dropped when the student’s final class average is calculated.
PUZZLE WORKSHEETS: Puzzle worksheets will relate to the material from the homework that students submit each week. The purpose is to help the student learn the material in preparation for taking the exam. Students will be given a deadline/completion date by which they must complete/submit their worksheet(s). Each worksheet will be graded out of 100 pts.
If a student misses the due date for the homework, s/he will receive a zero for that puzzle set. There are NO EXCEPTIONS. The two lowest scores for each student will be dropped when the student’s final class average is calculated.
3Xs HANDWRITTEN practice: Each week, the students will be assigned a series of short answer questions from the homework that the student will HANDWRITE (NO TYPING ALLOWED) over and over again in preparation for the tests and the final exam. If a student misses the due date for the handwritten copies, s/he will receive a zero for that assignment.
If a student misses the due date for the homework, s/he will receive a zero for that 3Xs handwritten set. There are NO EXCEPTIONS. The two lowest scores for each student will be dropped when the student’s final class average is calculated.
ATTENDANCE: As this is an online class, there is no attendance policy for this class.
ONLINE CLASSROOM CONDUCT: Students are expected to demonstrate respect toward the instructor, themselves, and their classmates. Students whose behavior creates a disturbance or interferes with online activities will be given a verbal warning. If a second incident occurs, students will be asked to leave the class and may be subject to disciplinary actions and/or grade penalties at that time. If a student is asked to leave, s/he will be required to meet with the instructor and the division chair before returning to class. Further episodes of inappropriate behavior will also lead to the student’s removal from the classroom and will be reported to the college administration for disciplinary action. NOTE: The instructor reserves the right to supersede the steps described above in cases where the student’s behavior presents an immediate danger to the instructor, himself, and/or his classmates.

CLASS GRADE QUESTIONS:
The instructor will not be available to answer any questions or address any concerns between semesters. Once final grades have been submitted, all questions, comments, or concerns will not be addressed by the instructor until the beginning of the following semester.

TUTORING AND TESTING CENTER:
The Tutoring and Testing Center offers free tutoring for Lake Land College students. Students may arrange a one-time session or regular ongoing weekly appointments based on their needs. To insure there is a tutor available, an appointment is preferred, but walk-ins tutoring is generally available for most main college subjects and study assistance.
The school supply pantry is also located inside of the Tutoring & Testing Center. Students who need help with basic materials for school are encouraged to stop by and receive materials like paper, pencils, highlighters and more to assist with their ongoing academic success.
