Description: |
The purpose of this course is to learn the basic theory of Computer‑Aided Drafting and Design (CAD) and to learn how to operate a CAD system.
|

Course Materials: |
No book required. Do the work and you'll learn CAD. Do the work well and turn your projects in on time and you will likely get an A in the class. Purchase a USB Drive to back-up your drawings. It is recommended to use the Lake Land U drive. For online work access to a Windows PC online is required. |

Bonus labs may be available.
Quizzes will include reading various handouts, and completing the related quiz on Canvas. There is no time limit and and it is "open book" homework style. Quizzes will be due 1 week from the day the lesson is covered.
Exams; There will be a mid‑term written and drawing exam, and a final written and drawing exam to check your understanding and skills learned in this course. These are timed and not open book.
Attendance is important, come to class prepared to participate. If you miss class or are late to class, this will count against your attendance score. If you are taking the internet Class you are not required to come to class.

Instructor Classroom Policies
Attendance

- Assignments may either be penalized or rejected if turned in late.
- Tests and quizzes must be completed by the due date to be considered for a grade unless previous arrangements have been made.
- Students who do not attend class during the first 10 days of the academic semester will be withdrawn from the course.
- I reserve the right to withdraw students from the course who do not attend class regularly.
- For example, but not limited to:
- You are allowed a maximum of 4 absences for this class. This includes excused absences.
- Upon receiving your 5th absence, you will receive a grade of F for the class.
- Any exceptions to this rule (such as extended illness) will be decided by the instructor and on an individual basis after reviewing a written petition.
- The petition form can be obtained from student services.
- Each unexcused absence will also lower your final grade by 10%.
- Canvas Homework assignments and quiz’s will still be due at the scheduled day/time even if excused absence occurred.
- If you leave a lab or lecture without notifying the instructor, you will be counted as an unexcused absence.
- After the 3rd event of being late for class, each tardy (being late) moving forward will be counted as an absence.
- Excused Absences = any absence where the student notifies the instructor at least 20 min prior to class beginning.

CLASSROOM RULES
- Assessing the internet during class time is prohibited except for class projects.
- Phone Use = Your phone will only be used outside of the confines of the classroom. If you feel it necessary to be on your phone, without asking for permission first, LEAVE the classroom until you are finished and then come back. If you are caught on your phone in the classroom without asking for permission first, you will be asked to leave the classroom immediately for at least 20 minutes and the material covered will not be reexplained.
- Food, Drink and Tobacco use is prohibited in the classroom.
Cheating on tests or copying another person’s drawing will not be tolerated and will result in a zero for that test or assignment and an F in class, if you “loan” someone your drawing file you are cheating and will receive the same penalty.
Academic Integrity and Student Code of Conduct
At Lake Land College, it is assumed that students will honor the tradition of academic honesty. As such, students have the responsibility to be fully knowledgeable of the Academic Integrity Code, produce their own work, and encourage academic honesty among their fellow students.
Students who engage in academic dishonesty in this course, will be given a zero for the assignment in question, and will be given a failing grade for the course for subsequent offenses. An Academic Integrity Incident report will be submitted to the Vice President for Student Services for further disciplinary action; those disciplinary actions are outlined in the Student Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Procedures.
For a description of what is considered to be academic dishonesty, please review the Academic Integrity Code available in the online Student Handbook and Right to Know www.lakelandcollege.edu/student-handbook. It is highly recommended that you download the Student Version of AutoCAD by following the instruction given in the first class and the links under the Week 1 module on your home page on CANVAS. This will allow you to do your labs at home very efficiently and use AutoCAD for a long time, free. If you have trouble bring me your PC and I'll help you set it up.

A PDF file is available on Canvas for each assignment, you may print them out or read them from the second monitor. The technique to create each drawing will be demonstrated in class and/or available via zoom videos located on your CANVAS page
Due dates are on Canvas, drawings turned in late will be given partial credit.
All drawings will be turned in on “A” size paper or submitted on Canvas
You will be responsible to save your drawings on your own USB Drive and may be collected to aid in grading.
